Past in Tinsel
Yearly, we celebrate the season,
wishing each other well,
buying all the goodies,
the shopkeepers want to sell.
We decorate, cook and bake,
while moaning about the pounds.
We trim the tree, we light the roof
and build snowmen on the grounds
but we have to get past the tinsel,
and through the bright lights glow,
to reach Christmas' true spirit:
the love of those who we know.
