Goodwill
December's cold sends crowds racing
through city streets lit with cheer,
searching for sales, and tradition
they've lost in glimmer and shine.
But somewhere among the tinsel,
in the cold, all alone he stands,
one person slows, and stops
turning to look him in the eye.
And takes just one moment,
to draw a scarf from his bag.
It only takes one action,
one true act of good will.
Others saw, and added more
to the gift given from the heart.
Mittens, hat, and woolen socks
cookies, chocolate, peppermint.
On that street, a lonely man
without a Christmas home,
found himself arms laden,
and heartfull of Christmas hope.
