HOME

Arriving with the sun

I find you sleeping,

not yet ready to rise,

and I slip in beside you

grateful for the chance

to spend moments

lying beside you.

Together,

no need to be touching

I listen to you breathe,

and it is enough

to fall asleep knowing

I 'll wake  later

missing your hearts beat

and find you gone.

But if I am still,

listening,

I can hear your voice

within our home

talking to our children

and I drift off again

lost in the distant rumble

of safety, love and home

knowing all is well.
