I Fed a Famished Fairy

I fed a famished fairy, but not a bite she took

you can only feed a fairy from pages of a book.

Seeking information, she flitting above the page

absorbing fact and fiction, with history of the age.

Her tiny wings were whirring, while she read aloud

and her voice was cultured, knowledgeable and proud.

I happily did service, turning pages as she read

I had to hurry to keep up, as she'd flit ahead.

The little one was was ravenous, drinking every word,

until she finished all I had, her wings sped and blurred.

I sighed, as I watched her, until she was out of sight.

I wish I had stopped by the library last night.
