Clematis
Lavendar, with Lilac shades
the beautiful star shaped purple
clematis climb up my trellis.
They create a blooming
privacy curtain between
me and the busy road.
I sit within, sipping tea
from a flowered china cup
admiring each blossom.
They are a fragile flower
easily damaged by heat,
lack of rain, or human touch.
Wandering outgrowth must be
gently redirected to avoid tripping
during early spring growth.
But in the fall, their season over,
I am left with twisting brown
vines pruned back for next year.
