Hearts beat

A repaired heart rests

dreaming unknown dreams

while etching lifelines

onto back lit screens.

The heart beats a rhythm

alarms out of tune.

His wife exhausted

asleep in the room.

Not just a an organ,

but a gentle man.

The heart has family,

and a secret plan.

His heart is renewed

but his love is old.

He'll soon celebrate

Fifty years-all gold.

Healing time over

he's taking her there.

A destination,

only he knows where.

Words will be spoken

they'll dance to their song.

She's been his heart's beat

All along.
